Haha ya it turned out to be way easier then I thought it would. Very glad I did it. It rides so much better now. Still waiting on my other shackles to come in. The current ones hit the shackle box under compression as expected.
5/16" should get the job done. I had 2 spot welds that were on top of each other on one of the brackets and a 3/8" probably would have worked better there. But I just did 2 holes right next to each other and used the pry bar to pop it free. If you have a mini air sawzall like this, you will be set. I used it to cut from the inside top of the bracket down and it worked perfectly.

Those body saws are awesome. looks like your jeep is coming along nicely, just got my 3-link crossmemeber today. Links will be here early next week. Hoping to get it all together next weekend. We need to hit some trails.

Ya I use the saw on a lot of things. Crazy how good they work on thin metal. I was lurking on your thread and saw the new parts. Awesome! Hopefully the rest of the 3 link kit shows up soon and you get that thing back together and on the ground. Let me know when you are all ready to go!
So since I have not had to work on the Jeep lately, I dont have any Jeep updates. That is a good thing. Its doing its job getting me back and forth from work without any issues. Steering box feels like its going out though. But that means I have had time to work on the Bug. Its been down since my last race and that was in November. Been dreading pulling the engine but finally got down to doing it. It came out a lot easier then it went in since the head is off. Found one spun bearing as expected. Now time to start building the bigger better engine!
Yes a pain for sure. But it will be well worth it once it is back together. The Bug has always been a blast to drive. Like a big go-kart with too much power haha.
Yep the Yeti is built and driving. Brushless of course. Had the XJ as well but its long gone. I also have the Axial Bomber car. We sponsor the real Bomber car so they sent us a couple kits for free for allowing them to put our logo on the car! They are both a blast to drive but still prefer my 1/8 scale Associated truck. I have way too many RC cars....

Awesome! I think I'm gonna go with the Yeti trophy truck next. The XJ is fun, but I need some speed as well.
Know anyone who builds quality 4.0L and will ship? Buddy of mine has an XJ that's just sitting around that blew a rod, and if I can get a quality 4.0L, I'm taking it out of his garage. I only ask cause it seems like you're involved with all this good stuff, and I find it hard to trust any shops in my area.

Yep I do know someone. I deal with Chad @ Golen Engines a lot. Great guy, great place.
I might have a buddy willing to trade a Yeti for those springs you got. Ill ask him in a little and let you know.
I have a traxxus slash 4x4 that I bashed on and had a ton of fun with. Havent driven it in probably a year or so. I need to charge up my lipo's and get that thing out again.

Dude your lipos are probably junk by now! I assume you keep them in the garage? Do you store them 2/3 full? Freakin lipos are so picky when it comes to long term storage its not even funny. I have at least 50 bad ones that I am waiting to blow up. I always have like 3 RC cars with me when I take the Jeep out. Got to have something to do when you stop for a break!

I was thinking more along the lines of other Jeep parts. If I get another RC right now, I'll never work on the real thing.
There is only one Golen that I know of (in NH). Every company has its horror stories so I am sure you have heard bad things. But they will treat you right. If they dont, you just let me know.

Hahaha! Ok, they aren't treating me right!!!! They want $3,500 for a standard 4.0L! Lol! That's like $1k more expensive than everything else I've seen. I'm partly messing with you, but my jaw dropped when I heard that.
