Went jeepn today and found out a terminal on the starter solenoid is loose causing a nada when key turned. After pulling damn ECU out and back in. I sure do hate doing anything under the dash, especially when it turns out not to be the problem. Whole starter has to be replaced or can i just swap the soleniod???

I "bought" a 94 XJ today. Guy bought it with a blown engine, then decided it was more trouble than its worth to him, so he said if you can come get it its yours. Going to pick it up tomorrow. Also got a set of d window wheels.

oh, okay. I looked at 4-5 xj's before i got my green one and all of them had the same situation as yours. I'm up in the west of the great white north, and we sometimes have rust problems lile that. I looked at a '96 with a 2ft x 1.5ft section of floor missing

So after a weekend of driving the Juke 550+ miles, I park it and hop back in the Jeep to go to work. It rained over night. So sure enough, I use the front wipers to clear the window. For the life of me, I could not figure out how to get the rear wiper to work. On the Juke, you just push the wiper lever back. After wiggling things around for a minute, the light bulb in my head goes off. Duh, its on the dash.... Great way to start the morning.

but in other news i think ive found the culprit of my rattling ive been chasing down for 2 years. its the e brake adjuster!

i always set the ebrake so ever time i climbed under to look, the brake cables were under tension so no loosy goosy, whn i was fusing 96 and 97 parts together last night i crawled under it with the ebrake not set and the the whole thing flopped around like crazy smacking the trans tunnel.

i feel like a moron for never catching that haha

Re tightened the intake/exhaust manifold finally. Was hoping the sound I was hearing was one of the bolts coming loose or something. It almost sounds like the exhaust manifold is leaking... Is there a full proof way to figure out if it is?

After I finished I was looking /listening for the sound(i also think something might be rattling inside the engine...) and my upper rad hose started to leak, it's ballooning on the front of the engine so I was going to do it at the end of next month, guess I'm doing it this week lol.

Took a quick trip to town to warm it up. Changed the oil and filter.

Replaced the CCV breather grommets. Pulled apart the air filter box so I could plug the oil/transmission pan heaters back in. Dropped in the spare air filter while I was at it. Glad to see that in the year I was away, the squirrels didn't use the air filter box as a cache this time. Finally, crawled underneath to grease up the joints.

Installed AVS vent shades. I don't like the way they look but without a/c, I need to be able to crack the windows in the rain.
