Installed the new RC adjustable track bar. I've been really disappointed with RC products. First the add a leaf in the 3" lift pack that is only good for 1 1/2" to 2" and now the drivers side track bar mount. Extremely poor fit to mating surfaces for a well recognized company.

This has been my first xj lift but man, there has to be better stuff out there. Shop around.

Tomorrow, work on squaring the axle up under the front end and add the new stabilizer. Hold your breath, another RC product.

1998 GC 4.0 w/ auto

Visited the junk yard.
Removed SEVEN SETS of horn pairs just to find one single horn that worked.
Finally removed the eighth set from a 2004 (Bosch) and they Both worked. The mounting brackets are different, the wiring plugs are different, the horns are different - but what the hell can you do? <g>

Got a set of black rear vents (mine are silver).

Got the center-of-the-steering-wheel cover (it has the horn button in it.

Junkyard Total - $26.00

Finally figured out what loose relay in the console is for (the horn <g>)

Could not find matching silver paint to re-paint the junkyard rear vents so I held them up there as-is (faded black) and they look 'factory' to me. So on they went.

Steering wheel center-cover and air bag went back together.

And I modified the horn mounts, hung the new horns with crimp butts and heat shrink tubing, re-installed the horn relay, replaced the air bag and cover, and blew the horn for the first time ever. <g>

After that I had a beer and got back to work on other things.

I think anyone on here could've warned you about RC especially myself. Definitely wish I had skipped putting that lift on and put the money spent on it toward what I have pieced together waiting to go on. Also, on the RC site it tells the back isn't lifted as much to "level" it. Another thing to note is that the add a leaf will sag very quickly and need replaced by a full leaf pack.

Got the center section of my Dirtbound DIY bumper bent and partially welded out. Still have to bend, mock up and tack the outer portions before welding the entire bumper out.

Crappy pics, ill get some better ones in the daylight after I get it all welded out.

Yea, I had already ordered all the RC stuff prior to finding this forum. Learned a ton here and am thankful. Built the bastard pack with info from here. I had already installed the front coils and the lower control arms. Still had the adjustable track bar and stabilizer so decided to go ahead and use them.

The real issue I have with RC is that they are basically a lie by omission. Yes, their website does state that the add a leaf is only 1 1/2 to 2 inch but you have to really read their description. The package is listed as a 3 inch lift so you immediately think, mistakenly, that it is 3 inches front and rear. The second thing is the list of recommended add-ons. Thus the reason for the adjustable track bar. I know it's a good thing to have but when you get it the instruction sheet says it is for a 4 to 6 inch lift. Why the heck does it come up with add-ons for the 3 inch lift.

I don't know but it just seems a little deceiving.

And yes, I did call them on the add a leaf thing. Asked for suggestions to use the add a leaf and whatever to gain the 3 inch lift for the rear. Answer, order the full rear spring set. Once again, why sell the add a leaf kit with the coils, just offer the coils and spring packs together for the 3 inch lift.

I guess being from Texas and an old fart, I just like everything laid out at face value. Lesson learned. Next project xj, I'll go with someone else.

That's a good summary of how they sell their products. They know their stuff is trash, but everyone buys it anyway because it's cheap.

If you call and complain about the quality, they like to say, "That's been known to happen in rare cases. You can fix it by buying x, y, and z." In reality, they know their parts are poorly engineered, and they give whatever purchasing advice will get them a sale.

Fixed broken lower shock bolt. Welded in some threaded rod and put a nut on it. Also installed the core4x4 adjustable shackles. Fixed my interference issue with the shackle boxes. Finally riding proper again. I'm selling my IRO shackles too if anyone is interested. Thread in the classifieds shortly.

Well, today I did get the adjustable track bar installed. Front axle centered. Stabilizer installed. Moving forward slowly.

One xj is not enough pain in the rear, I found another 2 door almost identical mine that I was able to purchase. It's a 84 v-6, 5 speed, 2 door, white. Will name it "April's Fool" LOL. Supposed to pick it up Saturday, April 1.

Any modifications to "April" will not be RC products, learned my lesson the hard way.

Happy Jeepin'
