I have seen a number of threads about custom bumpers but I would love to see how people have modified their stock bumpers to allow for better tire fit or whatever else
I recently moved up from 31x10.50's to 32x11.5 and my tires were rubbing real bad on the end caps of my bumper. Today i took the end caps off just as a temporary solution but I don't like the way they look at the 90 degree angle they are at. i am thinking i might cut them at an angle but i am also wondering if using pre-97 end caps on the bumper works that might look clean and professional. Does anyone have experience with this? pics of either of these or any other similar modification would be awesome!
Here is an old photo of mine when I first purchased it from PO and it has 31x10:50's on it, I trimmed a little more installed new lift 3" then 33x12:50x15's.
I also just removed the end caps/bumper ****. I don't like the look of the exposed corner but I have more important things to spend my money on. I also cut holes out and installed fogs in the bumper. I'm planning on building a d-ring bracket system that will go behind the stock bumper have the d-ring mounts stick out the front.
Here you can see how I trimmed my rear end caps to match the line of my fender flare:

Thanks for spending your time to make a valuable contribution to this thread.
Hey now it was valuable. It was an opinion that the bumper is worthless hahah. If your going to offroad you need a solid bumper, not only for protection, but for solid tow points as well. Your jeep looks good, but a nice bumper would make her look clean!
XJlimitedx99, i agree that I dont like the look but have more important uses for my money, fabricated bumpers are damn expensive! I think that the bumper without the end caps does look better without the stock flairs tho, what did you make yours out of?
