Edit: Just noticed this was your first post. Definitely go make a thread in the "build" section. Will allow you to upload photos and post progress. Plus would be a cool to look back on once you're finished.
I will definitely try to get on here on my next update and make a thread for it. It's been a fun project and I'm really excited to see her reaction when she finds out it's still alive lol When I'm done with my daughters, I will be buying another project XJ to build for myself how I want. She's off to college in the fall so I'll be bored anyway

Sorry this is off topic but.

It is funny how things get started right. My son insisted on getting a XJ for his first car. We went wheeling with my son-in-law with it and I was instantly hooked. Then my son was considering going to Fo.Co. (CSU) for college taking his XJ with him. So I went out and bought my own!!

Yeah, I actually bought this jeep years ago for a spare vehicle from the original owner before my daughter started driving it and is one of the very few 4x4's I've owned that I never messed with.
I see a lot of cool possibilities since working on hers so I will definitely have one in the garage in the near future. Of course I just got my homebrewery built the way I want and find another distraction to occupy my time and money lol

Went through emissions and passed. Also finished my roof rack and mounted it temporarily for my run tomorrow. Going to fabricate some gutter mounts this weekend and mount it right

How does installing a new tranny mount improve...what? I have a 96 and might want to do a swap if will improve the ride or shifting. Is it the age of the rubber in the mount? Does it become brittle and less absorbent over time?

I bought it back without her knowing and what started as just fixing the passenger fender, radiator and header panel(which was all that was wrong with it) has now turned into header panel, radiator, both new fenders, new rockers, removable doors, smittybuilt bumper w/ winch plate, led light bars on top and on bumper and removal off all rust that was on the jeep and finishing with a new paint job lol so far the most difficult part has been the rockers - more time consuming than anything, but I think she is going to be blown away when she sees her ratty old jeep looking like new when it's done

That is so cool!!

They get oil soaked and go mushy, they break, etc. Go look at yours and the engine mounts while you're at it.

Called Noggin pokin.

When my service van at work needed a new tranny mount you could feel the van buck when it shifted. Now with the mount you can feel the tranny shift like any other car, but it is smooth and pleasant feeling. 👍

It used have a lot of vibrations especially at stop lights and such, now there is less, also the shifts feel smoother.
