Default Xj lift kit

It's about time to put a lift on my daily driver 2001 Cherokee classic. I'm considering this rough country lift, I have never had issues with previous lift kits from them. I would be concerned using a t-case drop on 6.5 inches of lift. I would plan on a SYE. Also new brake lines vs. brackets that are in the kit.

Yeeaahhhh no let's not do the rc 6.5 inch kit. And at that height your REALLY gonna want long arms. Like seriously haha. Also an sye like mentioned.

Your gonna need more then just that kit like longer brake lines and upgraded steering and a sye at that height.Honestly would look at other kits like rubicon express, full traction etc etc.Take at look at this chart https://www.cherokeeforum.com/f67/nk...-chart-211878/

Stay away from Rough Country. Everything they make is garbage. Check out Rubicon Express. Theres no reason to go with that high of a lift on a daily driver. But if youre dead set on it, look into longarms.

6.5 is pretty high. i would agree with the others. long arm, sye and anything but rough country.

If I might ask what is the reason for a 6 1/2" lift to begin with? As the others have said the lift is the cheapest part of a lift that high it's all the other things that go with it that is the most costly.


At that height other than things mentioned I'm sure that you want larger tires 33-35's and with that you will need new gears also at the same time install lockers/ SYE/ Driveshaft. It's a very long list and a long arm is really what is needed for a lift that high.

I installed the 4.5" X-series RC kit and have had no problems with it. Came with extended brake lines etc. etc...
Installed the ACOS on the front, with LCA drop brackets. RC Shackle relocation and shackles in the rear. Only issue I've had is the rear springs sag'd a bit after a few months of hard wheeling. Easy fix, just adjust the rear shackles in a new hole.
If I had to do it all over again I would go with the LA kit.
