I just bought a cherokee used as a toy and the shocks inside the coil springs are taken out. Was just wondering if this is helpful for off-roading or why they would take them out? Thanks

Yeah a lot more info is needed.But kinda sounds like you have struts you need them the way they are.

 

It's a 99 cherokee but the previous owner removed the shock that is inside the coil spring in the front and I was just wondering why he would do this? Like what is the benefit is this, off road wise?

 

Ummmm....there isnt supposed to be a shock inside the coil spring. Let me ask you, what is right next to your coil springs on the jeep.

 

Shocks. But the strut or whatever is inside the coil springs

 

The 99 Jeep Cherokee XJ does not have a shock on the inside of the front coil..

there should be a bump stop tower in the middle of the coil with a rubber stop on the end like in this pic VVVVV



If the stop is gone it will look like this.

There is no struts man. The previous owner didn't remove anything haha. Idk if you were ready for "an offroad toy" . Be careful out there man
