I just bought a cherokee used as a toy and the shocks inside the coil springs are taken out. Was just wondering if this is helpful for off-roading or why they would take them out? Thanks

It's a 99 cherokee but the previous owner removed the shock that is inside the coil spring in the front and I was just wondering why he would do this? Like what is the benefit is this, off road wise?
