On a scale of one to "I f'ing hate this," how bad of a DIY job was that?
I'd say a 5, only because I spent so much time leaning into the Jeep to remove and install the umpteen screws in the dash. I'm getting old, me ole back is reminding me of that right now.
I think I avoided a lot of work by not removing the steering wheel, column, or big electrical connector.
Started to get the fluctuating volt meter. After checking all wiring I narrowed it down to the alternator. Upgrade time!
Hit the bone yard this morning and picked up a 136 amp of a 99 ram v8, gonna pull it down and install new bearings, brushes, and resurface the commutator. Also picked up a spare bracket so I can mod it to fit beforehand.
Installed my upgraded alternator the other day (sorry no pics). By far one of the best upgrades I have done so far. Anyone on the fence about doing this, DO IT. Brighter headlights, faster heat blower, and seems to even idle better. Think my alternator has been crapping out for a while. Ended up costing me $55 for a JY alternator and bracket. Took about two hours to in stall with all grinding included. I keps test fitting it as I went to remove as little material as possible. If I had to do it again I could do it in less than an hour.

So.... when you coming by to do mine? ill provide the parts and the beer.
There used to be a cement factory behind our shop, over the past few weeks a crew has came out and started crushing all the scrap cement left behind. Decided I couldn't take it anymore and had to go play. Only got a couple pics due to the fact I didn't know how much crap I'd be in if I got caught out there. And of course my Bud had to stick his greasy paw on my phone lense. Had a ball, but didn't get too crazy.
Pay to have my fat *** and my Heep hauled to your side of the continent and you have a deal! I'll even supply beer! I wants to do some desert wheelin.
Love desert wheeling, way too much mud over there for my tastes. haha
Can start off in the desert in the morning, by lunch time you're up in the heavy pine trees. Plenty of rocks and scenery along the way. I definitely can't complain about the wheeling spots out here in CA.
