Shut up!

Between a wife, kids ,and a demanding job it's near impossible for me to make plans. Most of my wheelin trips are spur of the moment load up and go type of deal. Hell I haven't even been able to do any serious work on the heep in forever. I plan to hijack the warehouse at work after Christmas so I can finally get my sliders and locker installed. After that I'll be good to go. I hope to make the presidents day run at Gulches next year if only as a spectator. You make it up to Harlan yet?

Love desert wheeling, way too much mud over there for my tastes. haha
Can start off in the desert in the morning, by lunch time you're up in the heavy pine trees. Plenty of rocks and scenery along the way. I definitely can't complain about the wheeling spots out here in CA.

Fo sho! I don't mind a little mud on trails, but that muddin **** ain't for me.
I put the heep in semi-deep mud once and will never do it again. I prefer technical trails and moderate rocks. Going out west and hitting Moab, and Cali. are definitely on the bucket list.

Need some input fellas. I'm hoping to order gears around tax time. Problem is , I can't decide if I want to keep my current set up and run 4:56's or go ahead and buy 4:88's and start collecting parts to lift another inch, add DBO tube flares, and 35's. This is my only mode of transportation, and I don't wheel all that often, but the 35's just look so damn good. I'm afraid that if I go with the 4:56s I'll be wanting to upgrade within a year. What y'all think? Convince myself that all I really need is what I have or should I go big?

I'm trying to decide between 33s and 35s also, and currently have 4.56. Honestly 35s would probably be fine with 4.56 judging by the rpms I'm running on the highway. If you think you'll continue to want bigger go bigger but if you're happy stay where you are. I'm hoping 33s will satisfy me but thinking I'll end up on 35s eventually.

Eventually, still undecided about the color. Hopefully I'll be able to free up enough time to get it done in spring. Hope to take some time this weekend and get my stuff in order so I can modify my sliders in the next couple weeks. Gonna do the sliders, re-gear and locker, then start getting ready to line it.

4:88's would be closer to optimum for 35's, but you're not talking a huge difference between the 2 gear choices. I'd stay with the 4:56's, and if you get a chance to run 35's then see how it goes. You can always regear later, but saving money is good too.
Might be a good chance to rebuild some other axles and sell the current ones as a pair.

I say lime green personally.... I'm also hoping to get some stuff done soon, but the guy helping me with my gears doesn't seem like he'll be able to before the end of break and I highly doubt my long arms will come in before the end of break so nothing will probably get done. Either don't have the time, the money, the right part or the right tool. What sliders do you have? Or are you making some?
I want to do the lime green, but I'm just wondering how it will be driving a neon Jeep every day. Wish there was some way to test drive a color before I commit to it. LOL! I know all about life getting in the way of progress, I haven't been able to get anything done. Wanted a cowl intake for a couple years and now that I have one I can't seem to find time to install it.
I'm not sure what brand sliders I have, I worked them in on the deal when I bought my rear bumper, hell they may be homebrew. I need to modify them because the front mount hits my LA crossmember, and I also want to add a rub rail/step on them to help the kids get in and out of the Heep, I have all the materials and tools but can't find the time. Were slowing down at work so maybe I can get some work done, although I'll probably hi-jack the warehouse at work to keep from freezing mine **** off. I would offer to help you with the gears but I've never done them myself and am going to be depending on a buddy to help me when I finally get around to doing mine.

That's my thinking too, but I need to gear now and going to 35's is gonna be a huge kick in the wallet don't want to run 4:88's on 32's for an extended amount of time. On the other hand I'm wanting to truss, gusset , and lock both axles when I have the axles out for the re-gear but don't want to end up with a ton of time and money in a set of 4:56 axles that I'm going to end up selling. At this point I'm kind of leaning toward just throwing in 4:56's , and a lunchbox that I have for the D30 in then buy another set of axles from the JY and start building them with trusses and such that way I can either just swap out the 4:56 gear set or go ***** out and throw in a set of 4:88's and big meats.
Decisions, decisions...I kind of understand how the ole lady feels when she takes 2 hours to pick out a pair of jeans.

Thanks man! I didn't care much for the color combo when I bought it, so I painted the factory front bumper black and hated it. Now I'm stuck in the dilemma of what color combo to go with now. My paint is cracking and peeling faster by the day. No way I'm going to put the cash and effort into a good paint job just to scratch it up, decided to monstaline it but cant decide on a color.
