Picked up a motor mount from Stevemongr to replace my busted one. Was wanting to go with brown dogs but the Mrs. Wasn't feeling it. Maybe later. My floor jack crapped out right after I removed the mount, which made install interesting to say the least. Thank goodness I had some steel tube stock laying around to use as a lever.
Getting sooo far behind on the Heep. Definitely have to get back on it and at least get it geared soon. Took it camping at the lake last weekend, with the trailer loaded with kayaks, bikes, and paddle board needless to say she was a dog. Ended up pulling the trailer back with the trailblazer to give the trans a rest. Also popped the power steering pressure hose, bout **** my britches when it started billowing smoke from under the hood and squealing like a banshee!
Rig's looking good as always man. Are you still running 3.55s?
Thanks! Unfortunately I'am still running the 3.55's. Since it's my DD I can't really afford the down time to swap the gears in the Heep. I hope to pick up a set of JY axles and do a full rebuild with re-gear soon, then swap them in one weekend. Hope to get some work done since things are slowing down in the fall.
I'm in process of an axle swap on mine. I swapped an 8.8 in one weekend. I've got a d30 for the front on my workbench now. Stuck with 2wd until the front is done.
At least with the 8.8 in most of the hard work is done
I'm either keeping an 8.25 or going to a D44 if I can find one when I pick up axles. I'm going to help my buddy pull the drive train from his submarine ZJ this weekend, going to end up with a rear disc upgrade kit for my time. I thought about the 8.8 but since I'm getting free discs I'm not going to put in the fab time.
Good luck with the D30 build and install
Been a while since I updated ,thought I stop by. Everything has been going great with pickle lately. Just replaced plugs, thermostat, upper radiator hose, and new rad. cap. Unfortunately I get to tackle the best project ever on the ole girl this weekend, friggin heater core. Started noticing a slight smell of coolant in the cab a few days ago, so I guess it's time to bite the bullet. She will be getting a new core, lower radiator hose ,a fresh dose of coolant, and if time permits possibly a clock spring. Hoping to finally get my sliders and roof rack finished since the temps. are bearable this time of year. Wish me luck with the dash destruction. If I manage not to get too pissed I'll post up some pics of the process.
Ehhhh... so-so. I like the contrast of the tan and black, but hate how dirty it gets. Depending on what color I end up monstalining it I may swap to all black or black and gray.
Thanks for this! I am assuming I will have to do this very soon as well, sometimes I will smell a little coolant through the vents... HEATER CORE time. My XJ is a 1989 though, I've heard this job is a little easier on the older models... I sure hope so. Keep up the great work!

No problem man. I hope my post may help someone out. I used this
As a reference. Found out you don't have to remove the steering wheel, column, or the large electrical connections on the driver's side. Just take the column nuts off and let it droop down. Other wise follow the instructions in the link. I'm not 100% but I believe you only have to drop the lower half of the dash on early models. Here's a few more pics. I also grabbed some stuff called cord weather stripping and used it to make the fresh air intake water tight.
