I run RE super ride/Blistiens.

I thought I made the WRONG choice, till I finally worked out my shackle angle. (needed a shackle relocation kit) She rides great now...

I wish I could have rode in a OME setup thou, I heard and read nothing but good things about both kits before buying. The kicker came down to pricing and ablity to add long arms later (doubt I would) but the option is there..

But in the back of my mind I always wonder about the OME kit.

 

i got the same ome kit from dirk for my 98, i run 31's & only do some light offroading. the kit works great & is very dd comfortable, im glad i bought this kit. i did need a sye kit due to rr ds vibes, once that was added its a very smooth & stock type ride , only higher. i once had a re kit on a wrangler it rode rough , i had no desire for the xj to ride rough. the ome kit is money well spent imo, remember you get what you pay for.

 

And I have no quarrel paying alot for the best.

 

RE becuase the money you save can go toward other stuff* like i put my re lift in and next week i had to change my water pump...bad time.

 

Ehh I dunno. Overall I think I'm still leaning towards the ome

 

I don't know about OME, but I installed RE 3.5" with leafs and monotube. Price seemed reasonable and the thing drives better than it did stock! Maybe rides a bit stiffer but also feels more solid on-road. Off road I have been VERY impressed with it capabilities for not being that much lift. I would recommend it.

 

I have had that OME kit that is linked on the first page for about 2 years. Ride quality it pretty good. No sagging so far. You will need SRBs to get the best possible ride because the leaf springs are short.
Edit: When I ordered the lift the 3.5 inch leafs were out of stock so I got the 4.5 inch ones and removed one of the leafs so maybe the 3.5 would not need the SRBs.

I don't know, but I have been reviving a lot of ancient threads that I used recently when putting my lift on.

My opinion is this; If you're this concerned about saving $50 here, another $50 there, you should just go with what is most comfortable for you financially. To some, a $2,000 is really nothing at all, but to others it's a ton of a money. If you're working with a limited budget, just go with the more affordable kit you've found. So many people use both of these products, you'll be fine. There is no question that OME's stuff from DPG is the high-end side, and it's almost surely "better" than the RE stuff you'll put on. But you've gotta figure out the cost/benefit ratio for your life, income, and usage. If the cost is that much of an issue, it's always better to stick with what's financially conservative for your situation.

Another way to think about it - how much fun time are you going to lose by stressing over this relatively benign decision? Just pick a kit that's in your budget, get it installed, and go out and have some fun while you can! The $1000 you save on the kit represents a lot of gas, food, condoms, beer, or whatever - that you could enjoy in the interim.

They're both quality kits. Just pick your budget and go with it!

Oh boy, I see that that is an issue for this forum. I'm new here in every forum has its own quirk. In this particular case, I was just looking through the "recent" area and didn't see that this was so old. My mistake!

 

Don't worry about it. I'm new here, too. Seeing these "old" threads is great. They still have relevant info, and I am learning a lot.

In this thread I learned that RE and OME are both quality brands that people like. RC, not so much...
