I'm Cerakoting My Jeep In Magpul Flat Dark Earth.

I ordered a quart of C-246Q, C cure Magpul FDE, I Started last night, and got the roof and both sides done. I just need to order a little more and do the back, hood and grill. Adding up all the sandpaper, acetone, etc not just the Cerakote, the whole thing probably will cost around 200 dollars in materials total.

I'm using my spray gun I do firearms with, that i've hotrodded from Harbor Freight. I'm not good a bondo work so Its not perfect but its a jeep... Doing guns and doing vehicles are two totally different animals too. But I'm happy with it. I'm going to plasti dip the emblems in black and do a few other things to help it out, but that stuff is pretty tough. Its on there that's for sure.

Got the emblems done. The raised emblems were plastidipped and the 4.0 4x4 were decals I got off eBay.

J/k. I read the whole thing. What's the adhesion like exactly. bed liner or plastidip similar??? And what's the finish like?
This seams interesting if it's not as heavy as bedliner but stuck on like it...

 

I would have used the military CARC paint,The sand color would be close and probably a harder paint once dried.

 

Yea, I ran out.. I tried it on a fender last month and only used about 5tsp, but when I did the roof it was drying before I finished, so I had to up the feed... doubling/tripling the amount I was using.

I went with it because I'm familiar with it. I knew what kind of prep work is required. I'm not familiar with CARC paint. I'm sure its durable just not familiar with it. I've also never used plastidip or any of the bed lining materials. But Cerakote goes on so thin its scary at first. But its mind boggling how hard it is, as long as you do your prep work right.

I did take it off roading at Superlift yesterday just a few hours after applying it. I thought for sure I'd have some brush pin striping but didn't. We also had a few thunderstorms late after noon and the water beads right off. I really need to do some more trials and only time will tell, before I say Yea its good on a vehicle. There's several who have done bumpers, headers, motorcycles, etc so I'm not worried it won't hold up. I also sanded the fender that I tested it on and it takes quite a bit of effort to sand it off.

Its a matte finish and smooth like paint. Which would be nice when choosing some of their metallic colors. Since this is C cure your kinda stuck with the ratio they mix for you... When using H cure you can control how much satin/matte/flat when adding hardener but you have to bake it and you don't with C cure. I think it matches the recommended ratio for H cure though which is similar to the photo below to give you an idea. The Trigger guard is not cerakoted, and its original Magpul FDE.

Yup. C.A.R.C. is close to a bedliner material. Dries like a medium grit sandpaper but is hard and chip resistant. (Chemical and Abrasion Resistant Coating)

 

I've tried doing a Google search on cerakote car, vehicle, cerakote truck and cerakote a Jeep. There's not alot of info on it. We're gonna find out.

I completely finished cerakoting the Jeep last night. It was dark by the time I finished cleaning my airbrush so no pics. I'll get some up today.
