Looks like it needs a pinion seal too! I have an extra if you want it?

Yeah I noticed that too, forgot to mention that I ordered a new seal with the u joints.
Thanks anyways.

I've watched many videos and read multiple write-ups on replacing the seal, but how difficult is it really to change?

It's really easy.. Just mark the yoke, and nut and pinion gear, then when you reassemble used a small amount of silicone around the seal where it meets the housing, pack the inside of it wth grease so the spring stays place. Then just line up your marks! If you want I could come by sometime this week after I get off work, I'd be interested in seeing the jeep too!

Default Dash accent handles - just bc

I ordered these Stainless Steel Drawer Handles via eBay:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/291583039051?_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649&var=590628141291&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AITThey have several lengths available I ordered 404-160SS 8-11/16" length end-end.

Dimensions:

  • Hole Centers/Spacing: 6-5/16" (160mm)
  • Length: 8-11/16"
  • Width: 3/8"
  • Bar Diameter: 3/8"
  • Projection: 1-1/4"

The screws that are included with the handles are M4-.70 x 25mm. They are too long to use in the modification. I bought M4-.70 x 8mm, oval head machine screws.

The screws don't stick out very far on the back side of the center console trim.

There is plenty enough clearance between the lower handle and my 8-ball shift ****.

Turned out pretty good for only spending less than $20 total.

Finally got all of the new front drive shaft parts and axle seal.

New 5778 Timken pinion seal and 3 new 5-153X Spicer u joints.

Installation will probably have to wait until next weekend because I go on call this Friday-Thursday. 🙁

Default New IAC

Changed out the IAC valve about a week ago and have noticed a difference (see final idle pictures).

Ordered my new IAC from RockAuto.com - Standard Motor Products AC176

Throttle body removed from Dat Jeep.

Not that dirty, I cleaned it up with some brake cleaner anyway.

Old sensor - has some carbon build-up, but not too much.

Old sensor vs. New sensor - the old sensor valve doesn't move easily and obviously the new one moves much easier.

Reassembled

Before I changed the IAC.

1 week after I changed the IAC.
I know it's not a lot of difference, but any improvement is an improvement.

Tapped into the switched 12v cigarette lighter circuit.

Had to clearance the lower portion of the trim cover in order to clear the USB port switch.
