Hi guys, just put a 3" Rough country lift into my 2000 XJ and now I'm looking for tires. I've got stock 16" rims stock on there now but open to getting some new rims as well. Just seeing what you guys would recommend as I've never lifted a vehicle before this one. Also I've heard of backspacing, I have no idea what it is so if anyone could explain it, that'd be awesome

if it were mine i'd keep the stock wheels and stick a set of 31x10.5 tires on them. i think they look better (especially that small) with the tires tucked in. may have to adjust the steering stops a hair so the tires don't hit the lower control arms when fully turned.
if you are set on new rims i'd go 4-4.5" back space. again to keep the tires tucked in some.
here is my hoopty.. has what measures out to be about a 32x10.5 on stock wheels..
a friend described it pretty well i think.. said it looks like what a stock cherokee rubicon maybe would have looked like..

I don't know about that ^ I have ran 33x12:50x15's on 15x8" wheels with 3.75" BS with no flares 3" lift, on mine for going on 4 yrs. and have never got a ticket so far. Only time stopped was to tell me to move my rear license plate so it could be seen after the spare tire rear bumper install 3 yrs ago covered it up, have to do that one of these days.
They did not rub at all with that wheel, stock CA's. but fenders trimmed.
