Question fellow jeepers which is more common 9" or 10" drums

how to determine which one u have messsure inside to inside?

XJ drums are almost all 9" AFAIK only the police and comanche D44 had 10"

measure the inside diameter of the drum

Mostly 9" unless you have the police package.

the 10" drums have fins on the outside and the 9" are smooth.

Cooling fins..

The 9" is on the left and 10" on the right in this pic.

The 9" rear drums sure look wimpy. My "to do" list includes converting them to discs. Right now they're working OK so no rush, but if I had to work on the back brakes anyway I'd rather not stick with the drums.

I forgot to mention,, If I remember correctly the 9" brake shoes are 2 1/2" wide and the 10" shoes are 1 3/4" wide,, maybe 2".

actually. There's two widths of 10" drums. D35 10" drums are 1.75 wide and d44 10" drums are 2.5 wide
