That tells me you didn't clean the terminals. "Look good"???

Need to see bright, shiny lead on both the battery and terminals. My `97 has the same symptoms every couple of years, always resolved by cleaning the posts and terminals. Sometimes have to clean them twice because I wasn't through enough the first time. So easy, so cheap, what is there to lose?

Sorry to highjack, but rather than starting a new thread, I'll ask and follow. My 99 is doing the same thing. No signs of problems and then no start. I haven't checked the NSS itself, but my reverse lights work. When I try to start, the idiot lights come on, but the radio completely shuts down. The battery tests at 12.5v and 12.5 @the starter. I'm really getting frustrated. The volts don't drop when I try to start. Being my DD, I need to get this ***** running.

That's very low for an unloaded battery. Should be 13.2V unloaded. Were you on the terminals or the posts with the meter? If the terminals, clean to bright shiny both posts and terminals.

I was on the terminals and have 12.5v. It never at any point in the past year showed signs of problems. I run an Infinity Basslink and aftermarket head unit and after turning the key for 3 seconds they both shut off. I didn't think 12.5 was bad. I tried jump starting it with no luck. Terminals were just sanded to a shiny finish with no luck as well.

Can the NSS be bad, but let the reverse lights still work?
