i was just out on a dirt tail and notice that the back of my jeep looked low not too much but different. so i looked under neath and saw that both of my leaf springs where flat not like the normal cruve they have. i wanted to know if this is a big problem or just something to keep and eye on. and if i could fix it. no i did not have any weight in the back

x2...you could get add a leafs but it would only be a temporary fix, I would get new leaf packs.

Could go cheap and make a bastard pack. If you aren't running a lift just get replacements off a lower mile XJ.

 

lol. That is true, he lied. if they are laying flat, they need replaced. What was said above about the add a leaf is true. it is a temp fix. your leafs are virtually useless right now, so the add a leaf will help immediatley, but instead of the stress being evenly dispersed among springs, you are adding it all to one spring, hence the quick fix. i'd just replace the hole pack. if you have a lift, let us know, i am sure we can help you find a good price and good product.

 

you can also stack a set of leafs to get you arch back. you just need to get another set of stock leafs pull your leaf pack you have on and use the 4 longest leafs off both packs. you would have to cut a few down with a grinder or something to latter them out again. its a cheap fix and it doesnt look real pretty but it should work for what you need

 

new leafs, new bushings that need to be pressed in and not a bad idea to replace the shakels too. Quadratech has all this stuff. How are your shocks? Check out this OME setup:

i dont have a lift YET it stock supension, but i plan on lifting it when i get some money

 

Just installed some Rancho 1.5" leafs. they're stiff but better than not having any clearance at all

 

No better time to start lifting then when you need to replace the springs anyway. The bastard packs are pretty cheap to assemble and you can usually find used lift coils for $50-100 or could use spacers which are about $40. If you aren't going more than 2" you can get away with keeping the stock shocks for a week or two until you can afford new ones.

bastard pack- a lift combo of leaf springs that occurs when you get another set of leafs, the same width, and you pretty much alternate, say the durango leaf spring. start with the long xj spring, then, after cutting the eyes off the top durango spring, you put that in next, then xj, then durango...you pretty much add a leaf, a few times, lol, and achieve lift this way. if you look at the OEM Junkyard parts, it has a list. it's a fun time. Also, search bastard packs for a full write up. this is just the main idea.

You do realize that for about 900 you get 1.5" lift right? Not that OME is a bad company, they are made by ARB, but is telling this noob to drop that much really good info? He's got leaf sag, that's all...

Options are: new OEM leaf packs- same ride, no sag. Doing an aal, bastard pack or BB (budget boost, generally comprised of a spacer for front and either an extended shackle or aal for rear)- the aal and bastard pack will probably ride rough, and a BB won't really help sagging leafs. Doing a true lift- anywhere from 300-500 depending, but will give you the best results as far as ride quality, off road ability and looks!
