it's not the firewall, it's just the front of the wiper cowl area. I cut a 3" hole in it, and the hose ends just past that hole (about 1/2" or so inside the cowl area)
I can't speak for him but I THINK he is really asking if you notice an air flow difference inside the Jeep. The heater/ac box pulls fresh air from this area and by running the snorkel there you rob your system of that fresh air. I was wondering this myself. Especially becaust that area is supposed to be a "dead spot" for air flow. I've read that these are pretty noisy as well. You actually get the noise through the vents as well. The ones I've seen where the tubes are run to the passenger side have the snorkel come up through the cowl on that side. 1. Because there is room to actually run the hose in side the cowl and 2. Because that side cowl is not vented and would eliminate any water coming in at all.
Very nice job on this set up. Very clean. I like the "hidden" mods as well. It's so cool when you can make your jeep a "sleeper"

1) the space is HUGE. There's no way a 3" pipe sucking air in will "rob" any air from the a/c system.
2) the wiper motor is on the passenger side, thus the "covered" area of the cowl. There's no need to run the hose any distance inside the cowl.
3) it's much quieter than my CAI is, and I cannot hear it all all inside the jeep even at WOT. Now if you ran it to the passenger side, and put the filter inside the cowl area, i can see sound transmission as being a problem. This is not the case with mine since i do not have the ABS blocking my route to the drivers side cowl.
4) no issues whatsoever with water. I tested it with a garden hose full on when i did this - not a drop entered the airbox. The cowl area has very good drain holes. The spot directly over where the air hose punches through is covered as well.
I'll try and find some time tonight to take the cowl cover off an snap some pictures.

no. your emissions system is very different than mine, so it won't be the same anyways.

same way i did the firewall - drilled a bunch of holes then cut out the remainder to form a circle.
