TIRES!
Hello everyone I've owned a 97 grand Cherokee For a couple weeks now. As any new jeep owner, i want to put bigger tires on it. I am looking for in-site as how big of tires i can clear on stock suspension and 16x7 rims. Also any tire recommendations would be appreciated.
Welcome.
If your running the OEM tire size now (225/70R16) they measure ~28.5" tall and ~9" wide. How much taller you can go depends on the condition of your suspension. 1" should be ok unless the suspension is worn out. As far as width goes again 1" should keep you away from hitting the lower control arms. Tire recommendations are going to depend on how you'll be using the vehicle. Below is a good site for tire sizes and what's available.
