Cold air intake
Because its all hype and marketing. Go back to the factory setup. The only benefit to a K&N is you can clean it and reuse it. I ran one for years in the Mustang and thats all it was good for. Went back to paper filters and the engine ran better. Even after cleaning the filter and not going overboard with the oil, the paper filter was better all around. That K&N was a waste of my time and money. Paper filters havent got as dirty as quickly as the K&N did. K&N can get dirty quick, so its no better than a dirty paper filter in my book.
For many many years now, auto manufacturers have been using a filter sealed inside a box, and air is sucked in from outside of the engine bay. It is already a cold air intake. A K&N cold air intake uses a filter sealed inside a box, and air is sucked in from outside of the engine bay. The only difference is that the K&N can be cleaned and reused.
And if your vehicle uses a MAF sensor, you must go easy with the filter oil or it will coat and foul the heating elements in the MAF sensor. The computer cant adjust the air/fuel properly and performance suffers.
