cold air intake
I have a cold air intake filter that I was going to retro fit on the end of the intake tube on my 99'cherokee sport. My dad says that 1) the way it is stock was designed like that for a reason and don't mess with it, 2) he said that while the cold air intakes do let more air in they might also let gunk and other things in your engine you don't want...
Needless to say I am kinda caught in the middle here ....I am wondering what ya'lls opinion of the cold air intakes are.

I've had a cold air intake on my XJ that I made myself. I also use a Spectre cone filter. It's been that way for about 4-5 years now and I've never gotten any additional gunk inside my motor.
