Default Upgrading radio and wiring Q's

Got the rear of the Sony head-unit all wired in, and wanted to upgrade the wire to the amp and speakers.

What I'm not sure of is the wire coming from the unit is only like 20 gauge or smaller.
What does it profit me to go up to say 14 gauge if it only starts with such a small dia wire?

I can see from the amp, (since it AMPLIFIES the signal) going to the speakers.
But I wanted the head unit to control the tweeters in dash and mids in front doors..
I never really see much on this. Although 'stock' wiring is pitiful at best and it still sounds pretty good sometimes.

Thanks E

Nevermind. I found a NOS crossover that I'll be utilizing that I'll be running my 18 and 14ga wire
