Default Stereo wiring

Hi I'm new to this forum and could use some help please. I purchased a 1990 Cherokee Pioneer, 4.0L 44 auto. It seems as though one of the previous owners had tried installing an aftermarket stereo in it and just spliced the aftermarket deck harness into the existing wires using butt-connecters and not using an aftermarket harness. I guess what I'm asking is: what color wires go where and do what exactly. Thanks in advance. Curtis

The previous owner should've gotten the adapter harness instead of splicing the wires.
