Default Stereo wiring

Hi I'm new to this forum and could use some help please. I purchased a 1990 Cherokee Pioneer, 4.0L 4×4 auto. It seems as though one of the previous owners had tried installing an aftermarket stereo in it and just spliced the aftermarket deck harness into the existing wires using butt-connecters and not using an aftermarket harness. I guess what I'm asking is: what color wires go where and do what exactly. Thanks in advance. Curtis

The previous owner should've gotten the adapter harness instead of splicing the wires.
