hey y'all,
2015 Cherokee. Needed to pass emissions, the OBD would not communicate with the computer. Took the vehicle to different sites, all had issues. Tried a few Autozones to see if their scanner would communicate. It did not. Message just said to turn the car on. Even tried changing out the fuse with a new one. The only thing added to the car was a remote starter from Best Buy. Took it to a dealership to look at it. Was told to show the installer this pic. Is the issue when the remote starter was installed that they spliced into the OBD to share power? And this causes OBD to not communicate or something? My girlfriend has a different car, same remote starter, no issues. Any help into this problem is greatly appreciated.
Newer vehicle can be quite fussy and unpredictable once you start messing with the wiring. I can only assume the remote start is causing a roadblock of sorts and the modules are unable to communicate clearly. If you havent already, remove that splice if possible and try again. Take it out of the equation.
