If they worked "ok" before and not now it's the front speakers. If it's always been an issue it takes no time at all to fish new wires to the front speakers.

They didn't work well before. Last night I pulled a door panel. I was going to pull that rubber flex tube back that the wires go through and look for frayed or broken wires. It looks like there is a big quick disconnect on the inside of the door side of that flex tube. I got the flex tube to pop out of the body side but it would pull back for me to inspect the wires. In frustration I put it back in, put the door panel back on and now that speaker is working. What the crap??

Disconnect the loom from the body then shove the grommet part into the door then finally the whole loom itself out of your way into the door.

I had an issue with the rear speakers not working and I found out there was a ground wire that was not connected. On the back of the head unit there was a spade and there was a ground wire that was loose and need to be connected. The wire was short so when ever you pulled out the head unit the wire would disconnect, so you had to plug it in before you shoved it back in.

Was your head unit factory or aftermarket? Just curious as I checked my front door speakers for broken wires. They were not broken, cut them where the split happens for the infiniti tweeter add on which nobody has, including my XJ, and rewired from there, still nothing. Thinking of running all new wires to the front door speakers but I have not been able to locate a good write up on taking out the head unit and where to run them through on the dash.

Look at your schematic and find the wires that go to one of your front door speakers.

Take your multimeter and attach one lead to the wire at the speaker and touch the other lead to the corresponding pin on the wiring harness.

You should hear an audible tone. If you don't hear a tone you have a break in the wire.

But you could skip all of that by running a new speaker wire from one set of pins on your wiring harness to a single speaker... pick any one, but I'd go with a front door one because it's a short run. When I say pins, I mean the wire coming off the harness... not the actual pins.

Don't bother making it look pretty, just wire it direct and see if you get sound.

It's very possible you have broken wires and just need to run new speaker wire out.

If you have a spare, junk speaker lying around try and hook it up direct to see if sound comes out. That way you don't have to uninstall the speaks you already have in place.

What we're trying to determine is if sound is leaving the head and getting disrupted before it hits the speaks.

If you hook up a speak with new wire and sound comes out, then I'd do all four.

If it is still silent... with no hum or vibration, then move on to plan B.

Bro, I know it’s years later but you’re the first person I’ve finally found who knows how to explain these things in terms for everyone. Sucks when someone goes in and explains it in a way that you have to know what theyr talking about and uses all the correct terms without explaining and can’t keep up. Hopefully I can do this to my jeep right now and just need to run new wires but I feel like I can hear the slightest bit of static when I turn it all the way up idk what that would mean. I just bought this jeep and don’t know much about cars besides the basics do you still help people out on here by chance???

Over the years dust and dirt get in that volume **** and could create that static/crackling sound you're getting...Here's the thing, if that sound is coming through then the speakers are technically producing sound ? First questions I'd like to know is what year and do you have the infinity system ?
