Does anyone know how to get tail/brake light to work with LEDs? The issue I'm having is that the light is either fully on or fully off, and there is no intensity change like with a dual filament incandescent when I tap the brake switch.

I've seen such things as dual intensity/function LEDs but donot know if this truly solves the issue or not..

Hoping I can find someone who has made this work from experience.

Thanks for the help!

I tried led tail lights but never could get them to work. Would make my turnsignals and gauge lights turn on when I hit the brakes. So now everything is led except my two brake lights.

you need turn signal flashers for leds since your tail lights and turn signals are one.

Thanks, but these 3 videos go over how to wire LED lights assuming the lights you've chosen are multi function and different than the original sockets.

I'm trying to see how to do it with the original light housing/sockets......possibly it can't be done.

I had led brake lights that were "3157" lights and they would get brighter and dimmer but they made the turn signals flash and stuff.

what LEDs did you use? Did you have to change anything else?

I'm curious as well. I finally got all lights interior/exterior switched over to LED, except brake/tallight. I just couldn't figure it out so I bought some GE Nighthawk incandescents instead.

Just the 3157 LED replacements. I got them off ebay super cheap. I wanted to brighten up my lights after tinting the lenses. That's the only thing I replaced, they are bright and work great.

I will note, I tried to do the same thing on my WJ and they wouldn't illuminate at all.

there's the thing you left out. That's all you did. When all of mine are led they screw up but otherwise they are fine.

Not sure where you're going there.

I believe his thinking was that you only had LED brake/tallight and that turn and reverse were incandescent. Therefore it worked.

I ended up considering this a lost cause though and left the brake and tail light only as incandescent. I bought 3 different brake/taillight LEDs (Amazon, eBay, SuperBrightLEDs) and couldn't any of them to work :/
