Electronic Problems
Any information would be helpful.. I have an 88 XJ I just bought. The first issue is my voltmeter goes from 14 volts down to about 12 when I turn on my lights at night, especially if I have my fogs on with them. Does anyone know why this might be happening? Also my parking lights/turn signals under my headlights are not working properly, sometimes turning on sometimes not, and turn signal is sporadic in how it is flashing. Is this maybe just something that needs new connectors for the lights?
Any tips would be greatly appreciated!

first off go to any big chain auto parts store and they will check your battery for free (load test it) and check the alternator.....one thing that is very common are bad connections, especially the battery terminals. check the connections, and make sure they are clean and tight. check all other connections to make sure nothing is loose--alternator, pcm, grounds.

Like Mike said have the battery and alternator checked. The voltage dropping with the lights on points to a n alternator starting to go bad.
The turn signal issue sounds wiring related, or a bad bulb. I would also point you to this thread: https://www.cherokeeforum.com/f51/cr...x-tips-153657/
Checking/refreshing your grounds will do wonders for the overall performance of your engine.

Yes, get your battery tested, but then follow Cruiser's Renix tips. These old beasties have tired wiring systems, and usually the grounds need to be cleaned up. You may solve a lot of problems by spending some time cleaning up connections.

Check your Serpentine belt too. If its loose (not tight enough) than the ALT will not make as good a charge to the battery.
After you hit the auto parts place for a battery/alternator test.
