I can get long winded so I’ll try to keep this short
have a custom switch in the dash and from everything I can tell it’s just a ground switch. I traced it to some homemade relay setup under the dash above the factory relay box. I have no idea what it does. I thought it was a kill switch but it doesn’t seem to do anything. Tested windows radios dimmers ect. Doesn’t affect anything when switch is thrown.
switch in glovebox. Wire was traced to ground, and to the relay on the right in the next picture
Aftermarket relays
the yellow factory wire in the loom was cut and then spliced to the relay on the left. Another wire is ran from the relay to the other side of the cut yellow wire. (Ignore the colors of wires in the relays themselves as they spliced all different colors together
the relay on the right that’s wired to the switch is tied to the dark BLUE factory wire under the dash, see the little tap at the end of my finger
Here’s an old switch location that I’m guessing used to do the same thing the other switch does. Must be important if they moved it and wired in relays and all that
This old switch has some wiring that is disconnected. But it used to run to the left hand relay then back to the darker BLUE factory wire in the loom.
what in the world does this switch do or attempt to do. Please help me solve my years long mystery!
guesses are extended idle or an attempt to ground the starter. It has an aftermarket radio but nothing is affected there when throwing the switch.
So I believe yellow is keyed 12v so my question is what is the blue wire?
im assuming that the relays are tied together and this is grabbing keyed power for something in the car and the switch allows it to be turned on or off to keyed power?
so does anyone know what that blue wire is feeding?? This has been bugging me for years
