I doubt it. Even blown speakers would make some noise. Test the wires and find the problem before just throwing new speakers in.

Not true. The stock speakers in the later model XJs had paper diaphragms that disintegrate. At first they buzz, but once that starts, pretty soon the paper is gone all the way around. Then they make no sound at all. At which point you have two options: Buy one of the rebuild kits (but why the hell would anybody want to do that?) or replace them with something better.

Umb-694, take the panels off and get a look at the speakers. If you see torn paper in them, they're toast. The ones in the doors like to go before the ones in the sound bar, and they're easier to get to, so I would start there.

You can try taking your good working speaker and wiring it up to the ones that dont work. if you get sound in place of the ones that dont work then there you go. buy new speakers

Are you sure you are not balanced and faded to ONE speaker?

you can always test a speaker with a short run of speaker wire and a 9v battery. just connect and see if the speaker makes a sound like slapping a microphone before a show.
