You sir, are correct. After the purchase, we obviously had to get the Overlander home to the east coast. The plan was to have a reputable carrier transport it and that course of action was put in motion. After a seemingly unreasonable period of time and no conformation that the truck was en-route, the shipping broker informed us that NO carrier was willing to travel up the mountains to Prescott. I suppose this would make more sense to those of you familiar with that region of the country. Inquiring what it would take to get the truck shipped, the broker proposed increasing the fee to make it more lucrative for a carrier. I supposed it to be a ruse to increase their revenue which apparently was not the case.
At this point, the previous and original owner, Mario Donavon offered to get the truck to Phoenix highly increasing the likelihood of attracting an interested carrier. Mario is an incredibly accommodating gentleman. (I'll share additional information on the duration of his ownership and build later.)
The too slowly unfolding logistics of the transport were making it dangerously close to missing the opportunity for us to utilize the Overlander for our annual beach/camping vacation. My wife, Linda, informed me that she would fly back out west and drive the MJ home...I thought she was joking. After lengthy discussion and Mario's assurance that the Jeep was capable of the cross-country trip, I reluctantly agreed to my wife's "big adventure" proposition.
Clint, one of Mario's employees whom we had meant at the Expo, was kind enough to meet my wife at the bus station in Prescott, drive her to a motel, and pick her up the next morning. Mario and his wife had driven from Cali to bid an emotional fond farewell to their adventure mobile. The rig had in the neighborhood of 30K "off road" miles and many untold stories of their exploits all over the western US, Canada, and Mexico. Absolutely amazing!
The path of Linda's journey lead directly thru the fabled town of Moab and just west of Denver on day one. Day two was filled with the seemingly mind numbing, endless visually unchanging waves of mid western crops. Late into day three she arrived home to western Maryland both exhausted and relieved. The completion of her solo trek thru three time zones and over 2,300 miles was finally realized, a testament to her fortitude and the reliability of a well build Jeep Comanche MJ. I'm quite proud of her independence and adventurous spirit...but rest assured, I will never purchase an automobile overseas!

Hell, CA... sounds rather inhospitable. You're spot on per you're assumption. It is a custom job as are many of the components on this rig.

In the first and second photos on thehome page, you can sorta see the cheesy trailer park I was going to on a propane delivery. I looked over and saw the Comanche. The trailer park had to wait.....

Thanks for posting the company's site. I haven't visited for a while, nice face lift since I last visited. The MJ is in a couple videos.

This Jeep was in Jp magazine, just a small blurb, SEMA, and featured in Jeep Freak online magazine. http://viewer.zmags.com/publication/...3#/310f4223/56

My wife constructed this privacy screen from an ordinary tarp. Inside this area is the onboard shower. The 17 gallon water storage tank is accompanied by a heat exchanger, heated by the trucks radiator, that makes camping anywhere quite enjoyable.
