Unlike my old XJ, in the new KL with the drivers side window down, I experience wind buffering at speeds above 40 mph. I've tried adjusting the side view mirror and that helped some but I'm wondering if anyone has tried rain deflectors to alleviate this issue?

 

That's every vehicle on earth just about . Have to open both sides if you're going to open one or you'll have that issue .

 

Didn't have that issue on my old XJ. Has to be a way to divert that air flow other then opening the passenger side window

 

My Grand Cherokee WJ had Auto VentShield (AVS) acrylic wind deflectors on all four windows when I bought it... helps a lot with wind buffeting... you can get the ones that stick on (like mine has) or the ones that install in-channel... but they DO help... thinking about getting a set for my Grand Cherokee WK2.

 

Thank you. I dislike the idea of spending $100 for Weathertech and not having them do what I need. Think I might just go with the front set as I rarely have passengers

yup. had thought about that too.But if they work, then I'll invest in the rear set, if they dont then I have only lost $60 and not $100

 

I put the AVS deflectors on every vehicle I get.
Less than half of what the WeatherTech ones cost, and the AVS ones are just as good.
The AVS ones are about $40 on Amazon, for the set of 4.
The in-channel ones look a whole lot better, and if you ever have to take one off, like if one gets broke and you have to replace it, you won't have a sticky,baked on mess on the outside of your door frame to remove.
Out of dozens of in-channel deflectors I've used, both AVS and WeatherTech, I've only had one window on my F-150 that had a hard time "adjusting" to having a deflector in the channel. I had to run the window up slowly towards the top. Run the window up fast, and it would think someone's hand or something was in the way, and it would go back down right away.

 

Thanks tjsandog. I guess the question still remains, will they stop the buffering effect? I had also read that the AVS ones had some fitment issues which is why I'm considering the more expensive ones even though they are a bit beyond my budget

 

They do help the buffering quite a bit, you''ll still get wind noise, but not the pulsating effect of buffering. I've never had a fitment problem with AVS, the ones on my KL fit great.

 

Thanks, that was the big question. I don't mind the wind noise at all, just that pounding at 50 plus. I was never one to ride with the windows up in my XJ and hate to change driving habits at my age

I thought the wind buffering started at lower mph as compared to other vehicles. Good to know that I am not the only one. It is rather annoying.

 

It depends. I've noticed it around 40 plus at times depending on where the wind is actually coming from. I've also tried adjusting the side view mirror with no positive results
