Banging Noise from Wheel compartment

Banging Noise from Wheel compartment
Hello,
I was hearing a thumping noise from the passenger wheel compartment when going over bumps. I decided to take the wheel off and have a look around. I replaced the stabilizer bar link initially, that didn't fix the thumping noise. After that, I replaced the strut, since it looked like it was leaking. After replacing the strut, the thumping noise is gone, but now I have a loud banging noise when going over sudden deep holes or sudden large bumps. All other bumps and holes are fine, no noise at all. I thought I might have installed something wrong with the strut, but I watched and read many tutorials and I'm pretty sure I did it correctly. I torqued everything to specified torque settings.
I'm wondering if the new strut didn't resolve the initial issue, just made it much harder to replicate now. The noise I am hearing is rather loud, sounds like metal on metal, its a bit unnerving.
I took the tire back off tonight and everything seems really solid. The only thing that I could get some movement on, using a crow bar, was the bushing on the lower control arm. I'm not sure how much movement is okay.
The only things I can think are the tie rod end, lower control arm, ball bearing on the knuckle, the bushings on the stabilizer bar, or I somehow put the struts in wrong.
Has anyone experience something similar? I drive a 2016 jeep cherokee 3.2L v6 limited.
Thanks.

I was watching a video of strut replacement on the KL and I’m shocked that it’s just a retaining clip holding the top of the strut into the tower. I could imagine that causing banging if it’s not installed correctly. Have you tried resetting or replacing the strut retaining clip?

Dealing with exact issue on a 2016 lattitude. I used Oreilly auto masterpro strut assembly. Most of my bad clunking has gone away except for the occasional clunk. Not sure what else to do. I must say the clip assembly at the top is rinky dink. I have not replaced that but I can't see how that would change anything,
Hoping that somebody else has solved this issue.

How are the control arm bushings? I thought I had a bad strut, and it turned out to be torn lower control arm bushing. The strut is much easier to replace, at least on the 2014 TH, because getting the front bolt out of the control arm requires taking off the entire front fascia.
