Reliability of newer Cherokees?
So whats a guy to do? This sucks, that Jeep(dodge) can't figure out a pad for the Cherokee, that doesn't embarrass me every time I hit the brakes. I hate when companies merge or sell out.

I have a 2015 with 3.2 trailer tow and 20,000 miles. It has been in the shop 2 times for recalls and for the valve body which took care of the low speed shifting problem. I realy enjoy this Jeep.
Of course you have the problem that Jeep and Ram are the only two things paying FCA's bills right now.
I have a trail hawk and love the way it drives and looks on road. That being said I had it up in the mountains this winter and in snow for the first time and put it in 4lo and locked the rear diff and it got stuck and would not dis engage forcing me to drive about 30 miles home in 4lo. It sucked. Luckily I'm still under warranty and dropped it off at the dealer first thing Monday morn. Been to scared to push the diff lock button since.
In two weeks I embark on a somewhat long adventure first to Moab, then down Phoenix way, then over to Death valley then working my way up the coast. I will be hauling a little Tw200 on a rack off the back and will be loaded for comfort camping.
In lieu of this I dropped into the dealer the other day to ask him about brake noise (of which I have a little) and a slight shudder from the front when shifting to second under light throttle (this aparrent when new but seems to have almost disappeared). I didn't come in to point this out and be an **** pest but more like out of curiosity. We went for a spin in the same brand new model on the lot and could detect both the break noise and the slight shudder.
He didn't really have any answers but agreed my trip would be the real shakedown cruise and lets have a look when I get back.
I will keep ya'll posted.

MoToad.
Yes, let us know what they say. I hear the same thing on my 16 Cherokee.
I was told it's the semi- metallic pad's. Chrysler won't change them to ceramic pad's without limitations. Like if something happens because of the brakes they're not responsible.

My discussions were with the dealer and the chief mechanic and included your mention of ceramic pads. It was pointed out that ceramic pads can induce squealing on their own. Also I have to reiterate that what I am hearing is barely audible above the tire noise, could just be a lack of enough insulation around the wheel wells and may well be just added tire noise caused by heavier road contact when brakes are applied.
