Factory wiring..........
Hey Schwartz, Capes here.
I just installed a factory hitch on my 2017, but I used a "Curt" wiring harness.
You only have to remove the taillights to install. Curt says to mount their box
inside the vehicle, but I mounted it outside. I put silicone all around the edge
to keep water out. I did the same thing on my Isuzu, and it worked.
You have to run a power wire under the vehicle to the battery. If you
install the factory harness, which cost as much as the factory hitch, they
have you taking the whole Jeep apart to install it. They have you running
the power wire to the fuse box under the dash through the inside under
the carpet and door sills. What a mess...............................
P.S. "T-One" makes a box similar to the "Curt" that is made to be installed outside.
