I discovered oil leaking under my 2015 Cherokee Trailhawk with the 3.2 liter V6. I took it into the dealer and was told that the oil filter adapter, the oil cooler and an oil line needed to be replaced. They had to remove the upper and lower intake manifolds to do the repair. Thank heaven for the lifetime warranty. It only cost me $200 rather than the $800 to $1,000 that it would have been without the warranty. My question is if this is a common problem. I also wonder why we have the strange oil filter that fits in the filter housing. It must be a space issue. Apparently the filter housing is plastic and attaches to the motor block (which is hot) so it warps and leaks. What are your thoughts on this?

 

I had it done last year. I agree with you on having the Mopar warranty, it saved me. Sadly I only got the 7 year 70000 mile warranty. It seems to be a common issue with the 3.2 engine. I would have rather seen them just have a remote mount oil filter instead of the design that they have.

I will never get rid of my 92 xj, I think that barring any rust, it will last another 4 or 5 decades.
