New 2017 Trailhawk questions
Just bought a new Trailhawk yesterday . The manual is not the best. Can someone advise what the button on the dash is that is an A inside a circle ? Also the button that has a vehicle skidding ? Would appreciate any good info on the Trailhawk . I have the L Plus 4x4. Thanks

The button with a vehicle skidding is for your stability/traction controls... the button turns if off if you really need to spin tires (NEVER turn it off unless you're stuck). The 'A' button I don't know for sure, but I *think* it's to turn off the park sensors... you'd have to provide us with a picture to be 100% sure but I think that's what it's for. I DO know what the other button is for, though.
The A with a circle around it is for the Auto Start-Stop. The auto start-stop shuts the engine off when you come to a stop, and restarts the engine when you take your foot off the brake. It is to save fuel. You can turn it on or off.

The auto start/stop thing sounds completely stupid to me. Does anyone here actually like it?
I don't have it. But a coworker does, and it drives him crazy because he's never gotten used to it and thinks his engine dies at every stop sign... let alone the momentary lag it causes when moving again.
Seriously, how much fuel does this really save over typical driving conditions? I'm betting not enough to warrant.
Thoughts?

everybody's *****in about it, asking the dealer to turn it off permanently, and being told they can't. When I went in to see about it the dealer laughed and said there was another customer in just before me asking the same thing.

shouldn't someone at the dealership go over all that with you believe the lot? i know with the last few new cars i've bought the salesmen did.. then again i didn't buy from FIAT so that may explain it.
The only time I disable the ESS is when I know I'll have to get on the skinny pedal quick, otherwise I leave it alone. If you do a lot of city driving or get stuck on I95 in rush hour traffic the idling kills your MPG.
I see some sharp looking "bull bars" online and wondering about your experience on a 2017 Trailhawk. Is there any particular model that does not interfere with the parking sensor dots, collision warning and brake assist on the front bumper. Thank you!

If only you could permanently disable it... it ALWAYS turns back on when you start the vehicle... there's no way to prevent it from doing so.
