Default Hole bumper 2014 Cherokee

Hi All,

New member and a first time Jeep owner. I was looking at my Cherokee and it has a hole in each bumper which has a plastic cover over it. I popped it off and found a threaded hole. I assume this is for a recovery hook? Where could I purchase one of these said hooks? Or is this not the intended purpose?

As far as I know the Trailhawk model is the only Cherokee that comes with bumper mounted tow hooks, and it's a pair of red hooks in the center of only the front bumper... where exactly is the hole in each bumper? Like to the center, or to the left or right side of the bumpers? Depending on the position, it could be for a feature your particular Cherokee isn't equipped with.

On the rear it is to the driver side, it has a threaded piece in there like you could put a bolt in it and on the front, it is to the passenger side with just an empty hole.

That is a recovery hook for a tow truck. You screw in the little eyelet that should come with you spare tire/tools. Most passenger vehicles have them and almost all German cars since the 90's.

^^ Correct.

I wouldnt however use it as a dedicated tow hook/recovery point. They are fine for winching your vehicle up onto a tow truck, but I wouldnt trust them for much else.
