I thought this engine has limited rpm so it can't over rev.
Recently I had to go full throttle to get past something.
It went into the red at 7000 so I got off the gas.

Is that what it is supposed to do.
I don't know if the dealer changed anything last time it was in for routine service.

 

the rpm limiter is usually a little higher than what it states on the rpm display. if you have reached the limit the engine will just spatter as it can't go any higher.

but if yours is automatic no need to worry it would automatically change to the next gear once it's nearing the true rpm limit that the engine can handle.

 

Mine will hit the red as well, then up shift. Especially in sport mode.
