Hi all,
Didn't get much traction on another forum so thought I'd post up here - but I discovered a mushy wet passenger front carpet. Pulled it up and found that there is water leaking down into the cavity where the wiring harness goes from the body to the door. The water is collecting in that part of the frame. There is a circle cut hole where the wire goes into the frame, then passes through the rubber tube to the door. So when we dump water down the windshield it collects in the metal catch area, and I do see drainage by the front wheel, but also it's filling up that cavity, then just overflowing into the passenger area.
Possible root causes? I don't see any debris or clogging per say from the top view when I took the plastic cowl off.
I haven't looked at the Cherokee, but this is usually caused by an obstruction in the drain hole or tube. Leaves or some other crap blocks the "normal" route the engineers designed for the water to follow, so it leaks into a spot where is isn't supposed to be due to the obstructed preferred path. I would suggest using a compressor to clear any water paths you can see draining towards the wheel well.
