Default 2019 Cherokee won't start

Have a 2019 Jeep Cherokee Limited V6 45000 miles. 3 days ago I had to jump it to start it, drove it for a couple hours, come home and turned it off. Yesterday it wouldn't start had to jump it again. Drove at for an hour or so and parked it. Today and it would not start even if I jumped it. Took the battery terminals off and let the battery set for a little while and check the voltage it was 12.2. Put the terminals back on and it read 11.8 tried it a couple more times and there was a little spark between the battery cable in the battery terminal. As near as I could tell everything was shut off. Hoping it's a dead cell in the battery but I don't know. I live 30 miles out of town so I'm going to take it in to get it tested in the morning. If anyone has any thoughts I sure could use them right now. Thank you Don

Sounds like a bad battery, but getting it tested is the right idea. Autozone will do it for free.

Cool

The battery must be load tested! Most likely the OP’s issue is due to a dying battery, very common. Mine failed after just two years. Make sure he gets an AGM battery or else he will continue to have issues..

Default My thoughts also.. BUT

The one thing that concern me is why I did the battery terminal spark to the battery cable. That means the system is pulling some voltage. But I've learned batteries can cause a multitude of problems so we'll see how the battery checks out. Thanks for the advice

Like many modern vehicles, even while parked the KL will still use a small amount of battery power. The drain is worse if you have any accessory plugged into a power outlet or even a USB port. But I’m surprised that there is much of a spark - was a door open, lights on, radio?

Default New battery

Spent 3 hours at the dealership in Silver City New Mexico. Mechanic said it should be covered under warranty the service manager said the same thing. Got it all ready to go, and the big wider than he was tall, manager come out said no it ain't covered , only for 36,000 miles you have 45000 miles. I said I've never bought a battery in my life that was guaranteed for Miles that's ridiculous. Anyway I lost but he give me a good deal on the battery 170 bucks. I told him I hope it's better than the one that was in the vehicle LOL. So I need to research. I would think I should be guaranteed for at least 3 years by Chrysler. Anyway I went home put it in everything seems to be fine. Still wondering what caused that spark. everything was off the doors were shut. I learned one thing a battery can cause a bunch of problems, the check transmission light came on and all kinds of stuff. Anyway I'm a happy camper thanks for the help guys.

Yep! Glad you got it sorted out.

It shouldn't have taken them three hours to find a bad battery!
