Default 2016 Cherokee Trailhawk Output Shaft Removal

Found that the splines on this trailhawk rear driver CV and output shaft are blown and rounded off
What I am hoping to do is remove the Output Shaft without having to dig into the rest of the system. Can i remove the output shaft by itself, or will i need to get into the transmission first to get it out?

Number 13 on this schematic.

The service manual says the shafts pull out of the rear differential unit,but might need some tapping with a suitable tool to get them to pop out. Pretty sure you don't need to touch the transmission since that's up front. :}
