2014 Jeep Cherokee Altitude Information
Chrysler has shared information this morning at the Houston Auto Show for it's upcoming 2014 Altitude lineup and that package will now include the Cherokee.
Notes from the press release:
See the official pictures below including a great interior shot with an almost bronze dash trim with dark wood in a black interior.

Notes from the press release:
Based on the Latitude model, the 2014 Jeep Cherokee Altitude is available in 4x2 or 4x4 configurations powered by either the 2.4-liter MultiAir®2 Tigershark I-4 engine with up to 31 mpg, or the 3.2-liter Pentastar V-6 engine, which delivers best-in-class 271 horsepower and towing capabilities of 4,500 lbs. Both engines are mated to the mid-size SUV segment-exclusive nine-speed automatic transmission.
The Jeep Cherokee Altitude features a stealth-like appearance with gloss black grille surrounds, roof rails, front fascia lower applique and badging and a black daylight opening (DLO). Eighteen-inch gloss black painted aluminum wheels and a black interior complete the look.
The limited-edition 2014 Jeep Cherokee Altitude is available in four exterior colors: Brilliant Black Crystal Metallic Clear Coat, Bright White Clear Coat, Billet Silver Metallic Clear Coat and Granite Crystal Metallic Clear Coat.
The U.S. Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Price (MSRP) for the 2014 Cherokee Altitude models is $24,995 for 4x2 models and $26,995 for 4x4 models (plus $995 destination).

4500# towing is pretty impressive. The main thing I would be wary of is trailers with heavy tongues, lol. Suspension is probably more comfort-oriented than trailer handling, no? But it seems like power and braking would definitely be sufficient.

I foresee several special editions to come, the kind of people that buy KL's love to impress their friends with special editions.
"Say Bob, is that the new "American Patriot" edition KL with the small flag emblem glued on the tailgate"?
"Yep, just got her, only $1200 extra".

Hahahaha! ive never looked at it that way, but now that i sit back and think about it, its completely true. They got this whole "polar edition" thing going on now. Its just going to be something that people look back on 10 years from now and laugh. We dont want fancy special editions, we just want Jeep back, not Fiat

Yeah I don't see it towing houses though, my xj can handle a trailer with a small sized tractor no problem. So I'm sure the new one wouldn't have any trouble.

The prices really aren't too bad. My xj was $20,000 new back in '94. I haven't personally been in one yet so I have no clue how it would drive/handle.

The TrailHawk I drove handled incredibly well, and I have a sports car background. I'd love to really run one up through the twisties.

Are you kidding me? The kind of people that buy the KL? What about the JK and all the special editions? Arctic, oscar mike, multiple COD, DRAGON edition just to name a few. And they all sell like hot cakes.

Rear end looks Korean. Cough.... Hyundai.
Is China still making ~real Jeeps? Last I checked they had only updated the interior, headlights, taillights, and grill.
