Default Yeah, another NOOB. lol

Hello everyone.
I work at a M/C and Atv Dealership in Oklahoma so I play alot on the river but a divorce has left me with no one to watch the kids while I play, so I sold my atv and bought this and the kids can just go along. It will be a driver as well as a toy but not my daily transportation. I will probably lift it and use at least 30" tires. I do not want to go too extreme because I want to drive it to and from.
I am definately a noobie, I had a 1999 s10 blazer 4wd but never really used it other than in snow. I bought this as a toy and I have no real experience with offroading fullsize machines, so by all means let me know anything to be aware of. I have been lurking here a bit the last few days bought my first Jeep about a week ago. I will list the details I know below. But first l have a question. How do I know what axles and transfer case and trasmission I have. I know where the plate that identifies a lot about it but do not know how to read it. Also, it is bone stock.

What I know:
-1994 Jeep Xj Cherokee Sport
-4.0L I6
-225K miles, runs good and strong,
does seem to get hot especially while idling with ac
-Just by goofing around the front and rear seems open,
by this I mean I can get one wheel to spin on front and rear while the other doesnt seem to pull, messing around on some dry loose hills and dirt/gravel. No mud yet.
-It has a 4wd part/full/N/4wd low, (What is the dif in part/full, and when is best to use which?)
-Stock mag wheels
-225/75/15 long trail tires (seem to be stock size but not sure)

Thanks for taking the time to put this forum together and I appriciate any advice and info I can absorb. I will become a paying member soon. I have very limited funds until my divorce is final. Thanks again.

Welcome to our addiction.. nice to see another Okie... I think that makes 3 or 4 of us now. Where in OK are you?

As far as what you want to know.

All XJs had the Dana 30 front axle..
In the rear you could have a Dana 35 or a Chrysler 8.25.. you will know the 8.25 by the flat spot on the bottom of the differential.
If you have an auto it should be the AW4, if its a manual it should be the AX15... both are good transmissions.
For the tcase you have the NP242..

Welcome to CF, glad you decided to stop lurking And join. We are an easy group to get along with and since you are a noob don't worry we may kid with you but you will not be flamed.
As to your questions they should be posted in the section marked "Cherokee Chat". It sounds like if you have a fulltime option on your transfercase then you have a NP242 transfercase.(my favorite) As for your axles you have a HP D30 up front and a D35 in the rear unless someone has changed it on you. Autos and 4.0L 6 cyl came with a 3:55 ratio most of the time. There are exceptions to the rule.
Hope I have answered your main questions. Remember to ask in the CC section in the future.

Welcome to CF I hope we can help you get wheeling and if you want to take a look at a cherokee with 3in lift and 30's for tires then take a look at mine. I am keeping it here cause it will be driving to and from the trails also.
