Me and a friend are doing a Charity Rally in a few weeks, 4000 miles through Spain, Morocco, Western Sahara, Mauritania, Senegal and Gambia, raising money for a number of Charities.

We have a 96 Cherokee xj 4.0l Sport Auto which originally started life in Texas, before ending up in Spain and finally here in London with us.

Car runs fine and I can't find anything wrong with it, just putting a spares package together, have belts, filters, fuses etc, but do you know if any other things that we should take, specific relays and things like that? Bear in mind the car gets donated to charity at the end and I can only bring back what I can carry on the plane so we can't go mad taking spare alternators and stuff.

Please don't doom me out with horror stories about them being utterly unreliable etc!

and the xj is like the energizer bunny, they just keep going.
There very reliable.

 

Sounds like fun! Make sure to post some pictures up. I've put over 4k miles on my XJ in a week before, only issues I had were occasional heat soak. I would make sure to bring plenty of gas cans, XJ's don't get very good gas mileage.
