Hi, my name is Jeremy and I am the recent purchaser of a 1999 Grand Cherokee. I am learning things about Jeeps quite fast (as I knew nothing about them before, only that they fit my needs).
Some background on myself, I am a shade tree mechanic with mainly background in working on light duty diesel pickups. Previous vehicles of mine have been a 1990 Dodge Ram D350 and then a 1994 Ram 2500. I was pretty involved on a few diesel forums as well as specific Dodge forums over the past few years. I'm partial to Mopar/Chrysler products though like almost anything from the big 3. As a pretty quick learner and a decent wrench I hope to read up on things and soon be able to work on my Jeep with the same confidence I had working on my trucks and other people's trucks.
Regarding my new purchase; I stumbled upon this site when just searching for a Jeep forum, more specifically a Cherokee/Grand Cherokee one; and I am seeking some info on specs. Is there any way to find a build sheet (other than a dreaded trip to the dealer) by using my VIN # so I can effectively order replacement parts?
Enough out of me in this intro thread, time to get back to reading posts!

Hey Jeremy, Welcome to CF. Congrats on your WJ purchase. Here's a site full of useful info on them. >http://www.wjjeeps.com/
Here's a couple of sites strictly for Grand Cherokees.

Wishing I could toss some parts on the Jeep right now but I am in between packing boxes. Or actually I am posting on here/checking unread stuff while I should be packing boxes.

I barely have enough time anymore to get on my home forum (though kind of pointless at this stage, I don't even own a HD Dodge any longer but I am still friends with most of the people on that particular site) as well as this forum, much less others. Though def will check them out when I have a chance. As I've said in this thread, I have only had the Jeep a little more than a week now, and I have a pile of parts for it that is growing almost daily.... This is all amid a change in living location so I'm quite busy.

You need to stop reading and get busy packing.

Packing still a work in progress. Not moving all too far from current location (bout 20 miles) so multiple trips can/will likely be made. As I said in other thread(s) got a chance to install some of the parts from the pile, took a nice chunk out Now have some odds and ends in engine compartment and more boxes of parts coming in. hahahaha
This is going to be a new adventure for me (under the hood) as I have only ever worked on a few gas auto engines in the past. I swear it is SO weird looking at the engine and having the intake and exhaust on the same side.... And now whistling spinning thingie bolted to the exhaust manifold Oh well, someday.....someday...
