Default Semi new owner with a question

Within the last year I've bought a 96 grand Cherokee Laredo 5.2. I love the thing. Her name is Matilda. I've done some work to her. New wheels and tires. Roof rack, power steering pump. New radiator and just had to change the oil pressure sensor. Plus routine things like plugs and wires.
When I got the radiator in. The ATF in line wouldn't seat properly and it started leaking fluid. I've tried a few times to get it right but I feel like I'm spinning my wheels. I'm thinking that an external trans oil cooler is my best option. Does anyone have an opinion and how difficult of a job is it?

Twitch.

Got the cooler in, with very little cussing and only two extra trips to the parts store.
