Nice sight, looking forward to ideas and new friends. Just came over from the Eagle Nest Sight of which I was a member for some years having owned a 1988 Eagle wagon since 1989, now has 328,000 miles on it. My point is when I buy a vehicle that I enjoy I hang on to it, doing all my own mechanical work. So to replace it I am looking at Cherokee Sport Limited. 4.0 is alot better than the 4.2 and I,m tired of carburetors. I need the leather, pwr. windows and locks and cruise. This will be my daily driver, putting 50 miles a day to and from work. Would like to stay with 2000 or 2001. Have a lead right now on a 2000 Limited with 49,000 miles that came out of Massachusetts, (the coast). 3 owners, last owner 8 years. Outside and tan leather is gorgeous. It had a plow on it, items replaced were front coils, 4 shocks, drums, rotors, alternator, exhaust, brake lines. Underside is my concern. Is the uni-body something I should be concerned about as far as rust through? I heard the head was a problem cracking. (any specific years?) I did not get to drive it yet but the dealer is very reputable. I know what plowing can do to a vehicle also owning a 79 J10 with 401 that I plow with, never having a problem as far as busting anything. So I know if you have some common sense the plow part on this Cherokee doesn't make it a no sale. Any thought on what I should be looking for would be extremely helpful in making a purchase. Thanks in advance. I am located in Pine Grove, Pa.

Yeah tell me about it. I don't know if it was one of those Micky Mouse Plexiglas plows or something else. Thanks for the head info. If these do crack can they be replaced by an older version?

Thanks for all the welcomes. Got to drive that 2000 Sport Limited that had the plow on it tonight and walked away disappointed. It had the full time transfer case which I thought I would prefer being familiar with my J10 Quadra-trac and the Eagle transfer case that you can drive on dry roads if you wanted with no torque wind up. Either this thing was never serviced right or it had issues from plowing, it would growl in the turns and after putting it in 4 wheel drive then back to 2 wheel it took miles to release. Also an ear was broken off the aluminum transmission case and the heavier bracketry underneath was layers of rust. Rockers and floors looked great. But I'm afraid this thing is going to have drive-train issues of which I don't want to deal with. Rest of the car was absolutely gorgeous. Heated leather, overhead console, premium sound you name it, it had it. 49000 miles and 3 owners. First 2 only had it a year each. I figure being an expensive car that it was new the first owner couldn't afford it, 2nd owner not sure of his story, but the 3rd owner at 33000 miles got it cheap and didn't care about hanging a plow on it and it sat most of the time. Needless to say I walked. Anybody got any comments on the full time transfer case versus part time?

Well I did it, I am now the owner of a 95 sport country. I actually chased this guy down coming home from work. Had a for sale sign in the back window. 243,000 miles. Yeh I know what your thinking, I was too but this thing is incredible. Always garaged and drove his other car when it rained. White with a grey gut. Not a rip anywhere. Had towels over all the seats. Underside is solid with just some minor surface rust where the undercoating flaked off at the seams, which I'll respray come summer. Cold AC, cruise pwr. tinted windows and mirrors. Almost flawless paint (2 spots on the roof next to rain gutter) 55 lbs oil pressure hot at speed and 20 at idle. New uniroyals and newer style alloys. all this for $1,800 Everything worked but the radio which turned out to be an unhooked connection at the kick panel (easy fix) Had a pile of receipts in the glove box with full maintenance records. I did add a factory digital clock with help from this forum but that was it. I am enjoying the hell out of it.
