Potential 98 sport owner
Hey guys so here is the scoop. I am looking at buying my second car, 17, its a 98 Cherokee classic. Its fairly optioned out, Rust free minus a tiny bubble. Checked the sub frames, and rockers very clean. The only thing the worries me is the miles, its at 190K. Now i heard these things are super reliable, meaning the 4.0 inline 6, but how many other problems might I have? Does electrical short out, fuel pumps, ps pumps, ac compressors, starters? If some ppl can give me an honest evaluation whether to buy it or not I'd be stoked. I'm coming from owning a miata, its been dead reliable never had any issues. Also its 3k and its not going any lower, that's what my dads friend took it in at. Sorry for all the rook questions but I'm new to jeeps.
Thanks Alex
Thanks Alex

Hi Alex, hello from England.
Think you will find that mileage not a problem, however I have a diesel.
You are certainly on the right forum to find out though, have a search through loads of tips etc to look at.
You will find loads of friendly advice.

Hey Alex, that's not a bad price. But I doubt it's what he actually gave for it. He's leaving some room for his profit IMO.
That's a lot of miles but they do go a lot longer than that with no issues. You have no way of knowing how it was maintained/driven though. There's lots of XJ's out there in that price range, so look around before making a decision. Some w/similar miles for a lot less, some w/less miles that may not look as good. Check anything out thoroughly and drive it to see what condition it's actually in. Check all the accessories to make sure they work as they should. How does it steer, brake, and handle, and is there any noises, or smoke, or leaks? Check the fluids, and hoses, for their correct fill and condition. Check the tires. Do they show signs of misalignment, are they mismatched?
