Default noob-Should I by 97 Grand Cherokee?

I am new to jeeps, and recently came across a 1997 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited with 170,000 miles. It is a 2 owner jeep. Owned by a wealthy family and has all the paper work from the past 10 years. Every single oil change etc. And they just put $1000 worth of tires on it. They want $1500 for it.
Is this a good deal? Are the Grand Cherokees of this year any good? Can they off road like the Cherokee and wrangler? It is also rust free.
Thanks for any help I can get

Welcome

Yes that's a good deal. And yes they can go off-road just like us if you put your heart on it. It can perform as well

I have 4 Jeeps in our family three WJ's and I just build a 97 ZJ. I love my ZJ, but at the same time it has needed waaay more work than our other three.

However, the 4.0 is a die hard motor, and pretty easy to work on. The ZJ's are awesome in the woods for the fact that they have coil springs on all four corners and kind of limber over stuff.

If I had to do it again, I'd build another ZJ. We did a 3.5" RE lift, and also did adjustable front and rear RE track bars.

Didn't have to drop the transfercase, and got no vibes. I put mud tires on it, she'll do 75 on the highway, and go straight as an arrow.

I took my time and did the suspension right on it, I'm glad that I did.
