Newbie Jeepster!
Hi everyone,
Just wanted to introduce myself before diving into the forums. My name is Brian, I live in Lakewood (suburb of Denver) and this is my first Jeep. Ever. I've always owned 4-banger sedans, most of which were manuals and all of which were FWD. I traded a 2012 Chevy Cruze Eco for this: a 2015 Cherokee Trailhawk V6.
I've been doing research into 4x4's for months. I considered a Nissan Xterra Pro4X, Wrangler, and Toyota FJ. While all three of those are amazing on the trails, as daily drivers they can be a bit ... jarring? Plus the cost of the Wrangler (I was looking at the Unlimited) and Toyota priced it WAYYY outside of my comfort zone. I got a great deal on the Jeep.
Anyway my requirements were: reliable, capable 4x4 and tolerable on my 30-mile a day commute through mostly stop-and-go traffic. I also wanted the ability to run some trails and go camping (going out soon!) and I know the Trailhawk is better suited for that than any other KL Cherokees. Finally, I wanted the V6 for the power and an automatic (I've always owned manual, which are fun, but a PITA in traffic).
Anyway, I'm looking forward to being an active member in this community. While I don't plan on doing any modifications (need to get a few more payments under the belt), I love seeing what forums offer.
Finally, don't hate on me TOO much for my choice. I'm happy with it, and I'm the one making the payments (haha). I know there's a lot of dissent in the community for the KL's, but I'm hoping the purists understand that the Wrangler isn't for everyone, and I needed something that could function both as a weekend toy AND a daily driver.
Thanks for listening!

Congrats on your purchase! Im sure you'll like it!
And yea, some of us might not like that the new one has the "cherokee" name but it is still a Jeep and therefore your choice is still respectable
While our KL section is still pretty small, the more of you that join up and help each other out, the better it will be.
Welcome to CherokeeForum!
P.S. my old XJ does great at both being a DD and a toy

Thanks for the welcomes, all. I do like it so far, but have only had it for about a week.
My only gripe so far is the auto-stop-start thing, which I've been turning off. It just seems a bit unpolished. I can feel it lurch a bit when I release the brake and I don't like that. Could be my driving style too, which I'll have to adjust having a bigger, heavier and more powerful vehicle.
And I get the dissent about the nameplate. It happens with a lot of cars. I remember when Saab got bought by GM and they redesigned the 9-3 and 9-5, the community lost their collective ... poop.

I have not driven a KL yet... I might get one down the road but I have heard they have a few kinks that need worked out.
